Analytical equipment
We have a variety of analytical equipment available at the centre.
Our Centritherm® (CT01-9RM) evaporator is one of our distillation units which is particularly suitable for concentration of materials at relatively low temperatures.
The Centritherm® is a continuous short path evaporator operating on a single spinning cone. Centrifugal force generates a thin-film of material (0.1 mm) as the feedstock travels through the cone. A residence time of approximately 1 second across the heating surface makes this process particularly suitable for the concentration of heat-sensitive, valuable and viscous products. The maximum flow rate of the evaporator is around 50 kg/h.
Our Centritherm® is configured for high vacuum operation. In order to help condense all the vapour produced during distillation, the Centritherm® consists of two condensers, an internal condenser located in the cone and an external condenser. The internal condenser is cooled using a chilled water system at 6 °C and the external condenser is chilled using town’s water at 10 °C. The Centritherm® can be operated under two different modes, i.e. recirculation, in which the residue and/or the distillate are pumped back to the feed tank, and non-recirculation, in which both streams are collected.

Our CINC counter current liquid-liquid separator allow liquid/liquid separation of two phases of differing density.
Used for purification and separation of complex organic mixtures.
Our Centritherm® (CT01-9RM) evaporator is one of our distillation units, which is particularly suitable for concentration of materials at relatively low temperatures.
We have a larger version of the Centritherm evaporator, the Flavourtech Spinning Cone, capable of handling up to 1 ton/h of material. The flavourtech spinning cone is a thin-film distillation column, consisting of 21 inverted cones.
Gas chromatography (GC) is a flexible technique that allows separation and quantification of chemical substances found within a complex mixture.
We have two pilot scale continuous centrifuges, capable of operating (depending on feedstock) at process feedstocks rates of up to 100 L/h.
We have several filtration units available at the BDC.
